Trump admin begs Supreme Court to quickly unblock anti-mail voting executive order

In a supplemental brief Wednesday, the Department of Justice urged the Court to not only shelve the permanent injunction that U.S. District Court Judge Indira Talwani issued in June — which barred the United States Postal Service (USPS) from implementing the order Trump’s March 2026 decree in the 23 states (and Washington, D.C.) that had sued to block it — but also the preliminary, nationwide injunction Talwani handed down Tuesday in a separate case brought by voting groups led by the League of Women Voters of Massachusetts.

Appeals court backs Trump bid to block some mail ballots, for now, as Supreme Court mulls issue

A federal appeals court is letting the Trump administration continue implementing President Donald Trump’s anti-mail voting executive order. The ruling Tuesday comes a day after the administration asked the U.S. Supreme Court to lift a block on implementing the order in 23 Democratic-led states and Washington, D.C. upheld in a separate case.
