Ohio Voter Roll Maintenance Challenge
United Sovereign Americans v. State of Ohio
Lawsuit filed by United Sovereign Americans, Coalition of Concerned Voters of Ohio and three voters against the state of Ohio, Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose (R), Ohio Attorney General David Yost (R), U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland and several Ohio election administration agencies challenging Ohio’s procedures related to voter rolls. The plaintiffs allege that the state’s current voter rolls are both inaccurate and out of date, violating the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA) and state law. They allege that there are over 1.2 million voter registration violations in the state’s voter rolls. The plaintiffs also argue that the error rate in the state’s voter rolls is too high, in violation of the Help America Vote Act (HAVA). The plaintiffs ask the court to order state and federal take action to enforce the NVRA and HAVA and correct the voter rolls and to block the certification of Ohio’s 2024 election results until they do so.
STATUS: The plaintiffs filed their petition on Aug. 8, 2024. Ohio has not responded yet.
