Oklahoma Voter Roll Access Challenge

Public Interest Legal Foundation v. Ziriax

An anti-voting lawsuit seeking access to Oklahoma’s voter rolls.

The conservative Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF) sued Oklahoma Secretary of State Paul Ziriax (R) for refusing to hand over state voter rolls. On April 20, 2026, PILF sent a letter to Oklahoma requesting access to its voter rolls despite a state law that forbids providing full access to out-of-state individuals and organizations. On May 8, 2026, Oklahoma responded citing existing state law preventing access to its voter rolls. PILF argues the state’s refusal violates the National Voter Registration Act and 14th Amendment. They seek a court order requiring the state to grant full access to its voter registration list.

PILF uses these types of lawsuits to question the accuracy of states’ voter rolls and challenge their list maintenance policies, with the end goal of making it easier to remove voters from the rolls.
