Georgia Voter Roll Maintenance Challenge
Quinn v. Raffensperger
Lawsuit filed by two voters against Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger (R) challenging the state’s voter roll maintenance policies. The plaintiffs allege that according to data from the state’s voter rolls and U.S. Postal Service (USPS), there are many individuals who have moved out of the state, but remain registered to vote in Georgia. They argue that this violates the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA) and a state law that requires election officials to verify the accuracy of the voter rolls with USPS data. The plaintiffs ask the court to order Raffensperger to direct local election officials to identify every registered voter who has permanently moved from the state and provide those voters 30 days’ notice before permanently removing them from the voter rolls. The plaintiffs ask the court to order these removals to be completed before the November 2024 election.
STATUS: The plaintiffs filed their complaint on Sept. 26, 2024. Raffenspeger has not responded yet.
