Georgia Fulton County GOP Board of Elections Appointment Challenge

Fulton County Republican Party v. Fulton County Board of Commissioners

A Republican lawsuit to compel the Fulton County Board of Commissioners to appoint two GOP election deniers to the local Board of Elections.

Background

The Fulton County Republican Party is suing the county’s Board of Commissioners to force them to appoint two prominent election deniers to the board of elections. The GOP claims that the Board of Commissioners violated state law by rejecting the GOP’s nominations of Julie Adams and Jason Frazier to the board of elections. The GOP is asking the court to order the commissioners to appoint them to the elections board.

Why It Matters

Adams, who currently serves on the elections board and was nominated to be re-appointed, is a prominent election denier with ties to the far-right Election Integrity Network. She was at the center of controversy in May 2024 when she refused to certify the county’s primary election results. Similarly, Frazier is an election denier who has challenged over 10,000 voter registrations in Fulton County, often baselessly targeting eligible voters.
