U.S. Supreme Court Denies Georgia Runoff Challenge
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Supreme Court denied Republican conspiracy theorist L. Lin Wood’s attempt to halt the Georgia runoff elections on Monday. Back in November, Wood sued Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger (R) in an effort to halt the runoff election, claiming that absentee ballots in the general election had been illegally cast and counted, and that as such the runoff would also “proceed in an unconstitutional manner.”
A judge for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia dismissed Wood’s case, saying the court lacked jurisdiction to hear his complaint and ordered it closed. Wood then filed an emergency petition with the Supreme Court, which clearly did not take up his case with any haste. Months after the election had concluded and the new senators from Georgia were sworn-in, the Court ruled on his meritless suit this morning, rejecting it without comment.
