Case Manager

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for reporting out on all upcoming and ongoing voting rights litigation
  • Write and edit case related pieces for the Democracy Docket website and email list
  • Fact check all public materials related to litigation and serve as the primary authority for the accuracy of legal issues
  • Contribute to communications strategy for upcoming and ongoing voting rights litigation
  • Copy edit weekly newsletter and Democracy Alerts
  • Responsible for organizing, uploading and maintaining all case documents to Democracy Docket case page
  • Research legal issues and assist writing team with public communications related to voting rights cases
Skills
  • Research or legal writing experience
  • Works well in a team environment
  • Fast learner under time constraints
  • Works quickly to meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of voting rights, campaigns, progressive politics, or litigation
Education and Experience 
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Minimum of 1-2+ years experience in research, progressive politics or the legal field

Design & Digital Assistant

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for creating unique graphics for use on the website and on social media 
  • Configure website content for social media platforms, including creating social share images
  • Responsible for placing and publishing posts, uploading documents, and updating copy when required 
  • Create NGP Action forms for website integration
  • Analyze and strategically use insights from analytics to grow subscriber base and drive user engagement
  • Contribute to Democracy Docket digital program 
  • Execute other design-related requests as needed
  • Performs other related duties and projects
Skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to multitask
  • Problem solving skills
  • Creative design skills 
  • Skilled in Photoshop + Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience with HTML and/or WordPress a plus
  • Google analytics experience 
  • Knowledge of voting rights, campaigns, progressive politics, litigation, a plus, but not required

Senior Staff Writer 

Responsibilities
  • Oversee and edit all content written by Staff Writer and Case Manager
  • Edit emails (newsletter, article announcements etc.)
  • Edit voter education pieces and general op-eds for the website
  • Do research relating to the current state of voting rights law, elections, and politics, and writing parallel content 
  • Copyedit thought leadership articles, voter education materials, On the Docket and emails (i.e. weekly donor emails, voting rights updates, public list emails)
  • Write additional voting rights content as needed
  • Performs other related duties and projects 
Skills
  • Understanding of Campaigns/Politics and Law/Litigation required
  • Strong research and writing skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to multitask
Education and Experience 
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 2-4 years writing experience
  • Experience supervising or leading staff preferred but not required
