Nevada Clark County Voter Challenges Lawsuit

Petition filed by Citizens Outreach Foundation and a voter against Clark County Registrar of Voters Lorena Portillo challenging local county officials’ refusal to process voter challenges. In July 2024, Charles Muth and the Pigpen Project filed several voter challenges in almost every Nevada county, including Clark County. On Aug. 27, 2024,  the Nevada secretary of state issued guidance requiring voter challengers to have personal knowledge of the facts supporting their challenge of another voter’s eligibility. The petitioners allege that Clark County violated Nevada law by refusing to process their voter challenges and notify the voters, even though the petitioners attest to personal knowledge of the facts in their voter challenges. Petitioners seek a court order requiring Clark County to process voter challenges submitted by the Pigpen Project.

The petition was filed on Sept. 23, 2024. The Clark County registrar of voters has not responded yet. 

STATUS: On Sept. 27, RISE, Institute for a Progressive Nevada and Nevada Alliance for Retired Americans filed a motion to intervene as respondents. Litigation is ongoing.
