Georgia Voter Suppression Bill (AAJC)
Lawsuit brought by Asian Americans Advancing Justice Atlanta challenging several provisions of a Georgia voter suppression bill. The case claims that the bill’s voting restrictions — including new identification requirements for absentee voting, limits on the use of absentee drop boxes, restrictions on the collection of absentee ballots and more — violate the 14th and 15th Amendments and Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act. The RNC, National Republican Senatorial Committee, National Republican Congressional Committee and Georgia Republican Party intervened in the case to protect S.B. 202. Litigation is ongoing.
