Georgia Fulton County State Election Board Election Monitors Challenge
The Fulton County Board of Registration and Elections v. State of Georgia
Lawsuit filed by the Fulton County Board of Registration and Elections against the state of Georgia challenging the Georgia State Election Board’s (SEB) proposed plan to appoint its own election monitors to observe Fulton County’s election process during the 2024 general election and require the county to pay for these hand-picked monitors. The plaintiff argues that this would violate state election law, which does not give SEB the authority to force county boards of election to accept or pay for election monitors appointed by the SEB. They ask the court to block the SEB from appointing election monitors to observe the election process in Fulton County during the 2024 election.
STATUS: The plaintiff filed its complaint on Oct. 7, 2024. The SEB has not responded yet.
