Pennsylvania Clearfield County Mail-in Ballot Receipt Deadline Extension Request

In re: Clearfield County Administrative Building

Petition filed by the Clearfield County Board of Elections seeking to extend the deadline for accepting mail-in ballots on Election Day from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. The board alleges that on Nov. 5, 2024, it became aware of a bomb threat against the Clearfield County Administrative Office — the location at which mail-in ballots could be submitted by voters until 8 p.m. on Election Day. The office had to evacuate at 7:20 p.m., forcing the board to relocate its mail-in ballot drop-off site to the Clearfield Presbyterian Church. In light of the fact that some voters were not able to drop off their ballots at the church prior to 8 p.m., the board seeks a one hour mail-in ballot receipt deadline extension until 9 p.m.

RESULT: On Nov. 5, a judge granted the board’s request for an extension. Voters will be able to drop off their mail-in ballots at the Clearfield Presbyterian Church until 9 p.m. on Election Day
