Pennsylvania Northampton County Poll Hours Extension Request

Lawsuit filed by the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and Pennsylvania Democratic Party against the Northampton County Board of Elections seeking to extend in-person voting hours at the Bethlehem Ward No. 3 polling place from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. The plaintiffs claim that the board did not provide sufficient voting machines and staff to accommodate the number of voters at Bethlehem Ward No. 3, resulting in lines with wait times as long as three and a half to four hours. They ask the court to extend Bethlehem Ward No. 3’s hours until 10 p.m. to ensure all voters have an opportunity to vote. 

RESULT: The Democratic plaintiffs filed their petition on Nov. 5, 2024. The court denied the request, meaning Bethlehem Ward No. 3’s hours will close at 8 p.m. EST.
