Oregon Voter Roll Maintenance Challenge
Judicial Watch v. Griffin-Valade
Lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch, the Constitution Party of Oregon and two voters against the state of Oregon and its secretary of state Lavonne Griffin-Valade (D) challenging the state’s voter roll maintenance procedures under the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA). The plaintiffs argue that Griffin-Valade and the have failed to conduct a program to cancel the registrations of ineligible voters in Oregon or publicly disclose all the records related to the state’s efforts to ensure the accuracy of its voter rolls, in violation of Section 8 of the NVRA. The plaintiffs ask the court to find Oregon in violation of the NVRA, require the state to set up a public program to remove ineligible voters from the state’s voter rolls and provide them all records on the state’s efforts to maintain its voter rolls.
STATUS: The plaintiffs filed their complaint on Oct. 23, 2024. The defendants filed a motion to dismiss on Dec. 30, 2024.
