Idaho Congressional Redistricting Challenge

Pentico v. Idaho Commission for Reapportionment

Lawsuit filed on behalf of a voter challenging Idaho’s redistricting process and the resulting congressional map. The complaint alleges that the Idaho Commission for Reapportionment failed to deliver its final report adopting a new congressional map in time in violation of Idaho law. The complaint also argues that the new congressional districts violate Idaho law because precinct lines in Ada County are unnecessarily split. The plaintiff asks the court to block the use of the congressional map and order the creation of a new map that complies with Idaho law or to adopt the draft map that the plaintiff drew. The Idaho Supreme Court denied the petition, therefore upholding the enacted congressional map.
