Colorado Voter Roll Maintenance Challenge

United Sovereign Americans v. Griswold

Lawsuit filed by United Sovereign Americans (USA) and two voters against Colorado Secretary of State Jen Griswold (D), Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser (D) and United States Attorney General Merrick Garland challenging the state’s procedures related to voter rolls and its voting system. The plaintiffs allege that the state’s current voter rolls are both inaccurate and out of date, violating the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA) and state law. They allege that there are over 1.4 million voter registration violations in the state’s voter rolls. The plaintiffs also argue that the error rate in the state’s voter rolls is too high, in violation of the Help America Vote Act (HAVA). The plaintiffs ask the court to order state and federal officials to take action to enforce the NVRA and HAVA, correct the voter rolls and block the certification of Colorado’s 2024 election results until they do so.

STATUS: The plaintiffs filed their petition on Sept. 10, 2024. Colorado has not responded yet.
