Trump ‘will not sign other bills’ until Republicans pass SAVE America Act
President Donald Trump declared Sunday that he will not sign any other legislation until Congress passes the SAVE America Act, dramatically escalating his campaign to force the voter suppression bill through the Senate.
“It must be done immediately. It supersedes everything else. MUST GO TO THE FRONT OF THE LINE,” Trump wrote in a social media post. “I, as President, will not sign other Bills until this is passed.”

The statement is a blunt ultimatum to Congress — pass the anti-voting bill or risk seeing other legislation stalled.
Trump’s latest post again laid out a sweeping list of provisions he wants included in the measure, many of which are not part of the bill the House narrowly passed last month.
“GO FOR THE GOLD: MUST SHOW VOTER I.D. & PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP: NO MAIL-IN BALLOTS EXCEPT FOR MILITARY – ILLNESS, DISABILITY, TRAVEL,” Trump wrote. “NO MEN IN WOMEN’S SPORTS: NO TRANSGENDER MUTILIZATION FOR CHILDREN! DO NOT FAIL!!!”
The House-passed SAVE America Act would require strict proof of citizenship and photo ID to vote in-person, along with mandating routine voter purges. It does not include a ban on no-excuse mail-in voting or provisions targeting transgender people.
Trump also pressured Senate Republicans to alter filibuster rules to pass the bill, praising anti-voting activist Scott Presler for discussing the tactic on Fox News.
“Great Job by hard working Scott Pressler on Fox & Friends talking about using the Filibuster, or Talking Filibuster, in order to pass THE SAVE AMERICA ACT,” Trump wrote — misspelling Presler’s name in the process.
Presler responded shortly afterward, urging Senate leaders to bring the bill to the floor and “force democrats to tell the American people why they are against what 84% of us support.”
Trump had cited a different number in his own post, calling the bill “an 88% issue with ALL VOTERS.”

The exchange underscores the intensifying pressure campaign around the SAVE America Act as it heads to the Senate, where Democrats have vowed to block it.
As Democracy Docket reported, the White House has been pushing to attach additional provisions targeting transgender people to the legislation — an effort critics say is meant to pressure Republicans to advance the bill by invoking culture-war issues popular among some voters.
Even without those additions, the bill faces a major procedural hurdle as most legislation requires 60 votes to advance in the Senate under the chamber’s filibuster rule.
So far, Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) has shown little interest in changing those rules — leaving the fate of the SAVE America Act uncertain despite Trump’s escalating demands.
