Ohio Hamilton County Poll Hours Extension Request

Ohio Democratic Party v. Hamilton County Board of Elections

Complaint filed by the Ohio Democratic Party (ODP) against the Hamilton County Board of Elections seeking to extend the hours for in-person voting on Election Day from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m at a polling location in Cincinnati, Ohio. On Nov. 5, 2024, the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer polling place in Cincinnati was closed following an evacuation order at 4:15 p.m. Voting for the precinct resumed at 5:15 p.m. at a new polling place located at the Knox Presbyterian Church half a mile away. ODP argues that voters arriving at the Episcopal Church polling place might not have enough time to travel to the new Knox Presbyterian Church location before polls close, and asks the court to allow the Knox Presbyterian Church location to remain open until 9 p.m. so all voters have an opportunity to vote.

STATUS: ODP filed its complaint on Nov. 5, 2024. The court denied ODP’s request, meaning the Knox Presbyterian Church polling location will close at 7:30 p.m.
