Georgia Fulton County Voter Purge
Schmitz v. Fulton County Board of Registration and Elections
Petition filed by two Georgia residents attempting to purge over 14,000 voters from Fulton County’s rolls after the county’s election board declined to hold hearings on the suggested purges. The trial court dismissed the mandamus petition, which the petitioners appealed to the Georgia Court of Appeals. The Court of Appeals transferred the case to the Georgia Supreme Court, holding that it had exclusive jurisdiction, and the state Supreme Court dismissed the appeal.
