District of Columbia Trump Election Challenge

Lawsuit filed by right-wing organizations and Republican voters and officials challenging the outcome of the 2020 presidential election due to the fact that state legislatures were unable to meet in person due to the COVID-19 pandemic to certify votes and presidential electors. The district court dismissed the case, finding, among other issues, that the “suit rests on a fundamental and obvious misreading of the Constitution.”

This case was one of the lawsuits former President Donald Trump and his allies brought in an effort to overturn the results of the 2020 election.
