Majority Leader Schumer Releases Letter to Senate Colleagues

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In a new letter to Senate colleagues, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer laid out the  Senate Democratic Caucus’s priorities for the rest of the summer session. The letter, addressed to Senate Democrats, lays out the legislative successes of the Biden administration so far this year, including the expansion of the Child Tax Credit and the advances on climate change and COVID-19 recovery.

The Majority Leader also writes that the fight to pass vital voting rights legislation is not over. “…Last month’s vote [on the For the People Act] represented the starting gun—not the finish line— in our fight to protect our democracy,” he writes. The letter highlights Senator Klobuchar and the Senate Rules Committee’s plans to hold a field hearing in Georgia on Republican voter suppression efforts and states that Sen. Schumer “reserve[s] the right to bring back voting rights and democracy reform legislation for another vote on the Senate floor.”
