Kentucky Governor Signs New Election Law

WASHINGTON, D.C. — On April 7, Gov. Andy Beshear (D) signed House Bill 564 into law. The law makes several changes to protect election workers and expand voting and passed both chambers of the Kentucky General Assembly with bipartisan support.

The law preserves the three days of no-excuse early voting passed last year and adds an additional six days of in-person early voting for voters who have an excuse. The law also codifies the state’s existing policy against connecting voting machines to the internet and strengthens protections for election workers from intimidation.
