Tina Peters, fresh out of prison, tells far-right podcaster: ‘They’re stealing our elections’
Less than two weeks after leaving prison, convicted election denier Tina Peters appeared on another far-right podcast where she continued to spread conspiracy theories about rigged voting.
Peters, a former Colorado GOP election clerk who was convicted for her role in a 2021 voting system breach, appeared as a guest on the podcast of the conservative activist Steve Stern Wednesday where she ranted about getting rid of voting machines and said Democrats are stealing elections.
“The truth is that they’re stealing our elections, and they’re very bold about it,” Peters told Stern. “And so far nothing’s being done. My main concern when I was in prison was that we’re going to lose this country if people don’t start exposing this and speaking out.”
Peters also falsely told Stern that voting machines are being used to change election outcomes.

“We obviously have to get rid of the machines,” she said. “There should be no machine, no vendor that has that much control over our votes. And when I see what’s happening in California, and New York City, and Virginia, and other states, the thing that I want people to know… is it’s not just happening with these elected officials. It’s happening on every ballot initiative.”
Peters was convicted in 2024 after prosecutors showed she facilitated unauthorized access to Mesa County voting equipment and helped expose sensitive system data. Her actions were driven by the explosion of far-right conspiracy theories that the 2020 election was stolen from President Donald Trump through voting machines that switched votes to help former President Joe Biden win.
The Colorado judge who sentenced Peters to nine years in prison called her a “charlatan” who peddled “snake oil” and said she showed no remorse for her actions.
But Gov. Jared Polis (D) commuted Peters’ sentence last month, after months of pressure from Trump, MAGA fanatics, and election deniers. In Polis’ letter to Peters informing her that her sentence would be commuted, Polis wrote that Peters learned her lesson.
“Importantly, your application demonstrates taking responsibility for your crimes, and a commitment to follow the law going forward,” Polis said.
Polis’ office did not immediately respond to a request to comment on Peters’ latest remarks.
It’s not the first podcast appearance Peters has made since she was freed from prison on June 1. Hours after leaving a Colorado correctional facility, she appeared on former Trump senior advisor Steve Bannon’s podcast, where she baselessly claimed Democrats rigged voting machines to flip votes.
“I see these elections that are taking place in real time: The Mamdanis, the Virginia governor, Spanberger, and then what’s going on in California and Texas and Maine — just all over the country,” Peters told Bannon. “And I know that the Democrats are going to cheat, and no one’s really addressing the problem that I spent my time in prison as retribution for, and that was exposing the election machines that allow the votes to be flipped.”
