Bannon warns ‘demonic’ Dems will impeach Trump if they win Virginia redistricting vote
As Virginia’s redistricting referendum comes down to the wire, Steve Bannon is warning that “demonic” Democrats will impeach President Donald Trump and gerrymander congressional districts nationwide if they win in the Old Dominion Tuesday.
“This is their plan,” Bannon, a close Trump ally and former White House advisor, said on a Monday episode of his War Room podcast, during an interview with Virginia GOP chair Jeff Ryer. “Not just, are they going to take power and use these four seats to impeach Trump? But they’re going to use this as a template for the rest of the country. It’s coming.”

“These Democrats are demonic,” Bannon continued. “If they weren’t demonic, wouldn’t they show you the map? Wouldn’t they walk you through the logic?”
In fact, Democrats in February released the map that would be used if voters approve the redistricting effort. It would likely give Democrats a 10-1 advantage in the state, a gain of 4 seats for the party. It came in response to GOP gerrymanders in other states including Texas, driven by pressure from Trump. Florida is set to begin its own pro-GOP redraw next week.
As of Monday, nearly 1.3 million Virginians had cast ballots during early voting. Polls suggest the outcome is likely to be close.
The Republican-backed campaign for a ‘no’ vote has used misleading mailers to suggest that prominent Democrats, including President Barack Obama and Gov. Abigail Spanberger, oppose the new map. In fact, they support it.
