Texas Mail-in Voting Law
Gloria v. Hughs
Lawsuit filed on behalf of individual voters against Texas challenging the state’s age restrictions for vote by mail eligibility: any voter 65 years or older is eligible to request a mail-in ballot. The plaintiffs allege that this law violates the 26th Amendment by restricting access to voting by mail based solely on a voter’s age. The case was stayed (meaning paused) pending the resolution of a case raising similar claims, Texas Democratic Party v. Hughs, and was later dismissed.
