State of Nevada

Nevada COVID-19 Election Relief

Corona v. Cegavske

Lawsuit filed on behalf of individual voters, the Nevada State Democratic Party, Democratic National Committee (DNC), Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) and Priorities USA ahead of the June 2020 primary election after the Nevada secretary of state announced the election would be conducted entirely via mail-in ballots and opened only one polling location per county. The complaint argues that this plan left many Nevadans without a meaningful ability to vote as it excluded “inactive” but otherwise qualified voters and exacerbated already-existing restrictions such as the state’s ballot collection ban and signature matching rules in violation of the Nevada and U.S. Constitutions. The plaintiffs voluntarily dismissed the case after the legislature passed Assembly Bill 4, which addressed all aspects of the 2020 primary and general elections.
