Alabama St. Clair County Poll Hours Extension Request
Andrew Weathington, Certified Election Official and Judge of Probate, St. Clair County, Alabama
Petition filed by St. Clair County Probate Judge Andrew Weathington seeking to extend hours from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. for in-person voting on Election Day in 15 precincts across St. Clair County. On the morning of Nov. 5, 2024, St. Clair County election officials discovered the ballots they ordered were missing two amendments that were supposed to appear on voters’ 2024 general election ballots. The county was able to obtain corrected ballots later in the day. The probate judge asks the court to enter an order to keep the affected precincts open for two more hours and allow voters the opportunity to vote on ballots that include these amendments.
RESULT: On Nov. 5, 2024, the petition was granted, meaning 15 precincts in St. Clair County will remain open until 9 p.m. Any voter who votes after 7 p.m. must cast a provisional ballot. Voters who voted before the county began issuing corrected ballots will still have their votes counted in other races.
