U.S. Supreme Court Rejects Trump’s Final Election Challenge
WASHINGTON, D.C. — On Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court denied the final Trump challenge to the results of the 2020 election. Two days after the November election, Trump sued the Wisconsin Elections Commission seeking to overturn the state’s final certified election results. The case worked its way through the courts, most recently appearing before the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. There, the judges affirmed the lower court decision against Trump on two grounds — that Wisconsin had lawfully appointed its electors and that Trump had waited too long to bring a case concerning the administration of an election. “The President had a full opportunity before the election to press the very challenges to Wisconsin law underlying his present claims. Having foregone that opportunity, he cannot now—after the election results have been certified as final—seek to bring those challenges,” the circuit court ruled.
Trump appealed the case to the Supreme Court, which on Monday denied his request for review with no further comment.
