GOP Loses Lawsuit in Nevada

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A federal court in Nevada denied the latest effort by Republicans to slow down vote counting in one of the state’s largest counties. On Wednesday, two individual voters and two Republican congressional campaigns sued Nevada Secretary of State Barbara Cegasvke (R) and Clark County Registrar Joe Gloria in federal court in Nevada. The lawsuit attempted to stop Clark County from using signature matching machines and claimed that the county denied public access to the counting process. A nearly identical lawsuit was brought by the same lawyers in state court several days earlier and failed to prevail on a single count.

The Democratic National Committee and Nevada State Democratic Party intervened in the GOP lawsuit. The judge denied the Republicans’ request to halt vote counting or alter rules for signature matching or observation.

This lawsuit joins other legal challenges brought by the Trump campaign and Republicans across the country aimed at delaying the counting and processing of ballots.
