Conspiracy Theorists Selected for Arizona Election Audit
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Senate Republicans in Arizona are determined to complete yet another unnecessary audit of the state’s certified election results. The previous audit, completed in February, found no evidence of voter fraud. This week, the state Senate selected four companies to complete an audit of Maricopa County — including Cyber Ninjas Inc., whose founder has promoted unfounded allegations that the election was stolen from Donald Trump and claimed Dominion voting machines were involved in a conspiracy to change the election results.
On Thursday, Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs (D) sent a public letter to the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors asking that they do their jobs to ensure election integrity and voter confidence, and consider every option before going forward with this audit. Hobbs pointed out the state Senate’s repeated audit attempts, as well as her concerns with how they plan to enact the audit, which would give free rein to Cyber Ninjas and other companies, permitting them to visit voters’ homes and question them about their voting history. “[The Senate] has prioritized conspiracy over confidence, partisanship over partnership,” Hobbs said.
