Dominion Voting Systems Sues Fox News for $1.6 Billion
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Dominion Voting Systems, a voting machine manufacturer, sued Fox News on Friday morning for damages of $1.6 billion. The suit alleges that Fox, in its efforts to rebound from plunging post-election ratings and appeal to the Trump consumer base, purposefully aired falsehoods and conspiracy theories about Dominion machines in order to profit.
These lies, perpetuated by Trump campaign staff such as Rudy Giuliani as well as the network’s own hosts Maria Bartiromo and Lou Dobbs, promoted unfounded conspiracies about Dominion, claiming their machines were rigged against Trump and made in “Venezuela to rig elections for the dictator Hugo Chávez.”
Dominion has previously filed suit against Trump allies Rudy Giuliani, Sidney Powell, and My Pillow CEO Mike Lindell. Fox News has said they will fight the suit in court. The network also faces a $2.7 billion lawsuit from another voting machine company, Smartmatic.
